"On the Road" is an easy 16th style rock tune for jazz band. It was written at the request of my good friend and publishing partner Les Pack, who was doing a jazz band clinic and wanted something new for them to perform. I wrote the basic tune a few years back and it made the perfect vehicle for a moderately easy jazz work, for the rhythms and ranges are well within most high school jazz ensembles. The solo is written for the first alto. Although there is no auxiliary percussion, the use of extra percussion is encouraged. |
