  Going Home by Brian Rhodes

Grade Level - 3.5

"Going Home" is a pretty ballad written specifically for big bands. The overall chord structure is rather complex using a variety of tonalities. Even though the key signature only changes once, there are several tonal centers that change quite often. The key signature is G major, then it modulates to A-flat during the coda. There are two solos, the first is in the Guitar in the beginning and the second is in the Alto 1 part. A piano solo in the beginning would be appropriate if no guitar is available. I feel that this tune would make a great ballad for any big band concert or dance.

Trpt. D3, Tbn. A-flat 1
