Contemporary Convergence by Brian Rhodes

Grade Level - 4.5

"Contemporary Convergence" is, quite honestly, a weird swing tune for jazz band. It uses many strange chord progressions and sounds quite contemporary, thus the name. The working title for this song was "Buffalo Wangs" which I felt was a little too silly for such a serious sounding tune. The solo changes are a series of unrelated ii-V's, then a set ot sus9 chords which fit together in a weird way. The changes are in the first alto and first trumpet. This tune would make an interesting addition to any big band's repertoire.
